Gun Generator

This was one of the first projects I worked on in Unity, it was created as part of a programming module during university. We had to create a game that incorporated random generation and it had to be an action game. I took this a little too far and decided to create a split-screen first person shooter with a random level and randomly generated guns.

I learned a thing or two about scope when working on this project, many things had to be changed to get this game working. The game itself isn’t amazing, it is quite fun to play with your friends but it’s not much to look at visually. Though something good did come from this project and that is the random gun generator I created. There are over 1000 possible gun combinations and that’s just for the shape of the gun, I also randomised the effects, stats, sizes, firing type etc. All of which was altered based on the parts chosen.

I also learned a lot about programming during this project, before this the only knowledge I had of C# was based on a few videos and tutorials provided by Unity. I’ve come a long way since then and it would be great if I could find a way to re-use this gun generator in the future…
